The OnlyFans agency glossary: PPV, chatters, OFM and 40 other terms

Agencies, chatters and contracts use a vocabulary of their own. Here it is, in plain English, with the trap behind each term where there is one.

The short answer

The terms that matter most: PPV is a paid message or post; a chatter is a person who writes to fans as the creator; OFM is OnlyFans management; net is what OnlyFans pays you after its 20% and gross is what fans spent; a whale is a fan who spends hundreds at a time; rebill is a subscription renewing. Everything else is below.

Money and fees

Gross
What fans spent, before OnlyFans takes its 20%.
Net
What OnlyFans pays the creator: 80% of gross. The base a fair agency fee is taken from.
Platform fee
OnlyFans' 20% cut of every subscription, paid message and tip. Unchanged since the platform launched.
Revenue share / split
The agency's percentage of your earnings. Always ask whether it is of gross or net.
Commission
Either the agency's share, or the percentage of sales paid to a chatter on top of their hourly rate.
Retainer
A flat monthly fee instead of a share. Rare, used by big pages to cap the cost.
Tiered split
A share that falls as revenue rises, for example 50% on the first $10,000 of net a month and 40% above.
Exit fee / buyout
A payment demanded to leave an agency contract. A red flag at any amount.
Post-term commission
A share of your earnings paid to the agency after you leave, usually on fans gained during the contract. Another red flag.
Pending
Earnings OnlyFans holds for seven days before they can be withdrawn.
Minimum payout
$20, the smallest amount OnlyFans will transfer.
Chargeback
A fan reversing a payment through their card company. OnlyFans deducts it from the creator; some agencies deduct it again before the split.
Trading allowance
The first £1,000 a year of UK self-employed income that does not need to be reported to HMRC.

The two that cause the most arguments are gross and net. The fees guide shows what each one costs you in dollars.

The page

Free page
A page with no subscription fee. Fans join free and everything is sold by paid message. Needs traffic and chat cover.
Paid page
A page with a monthly subscription, $4.99 to $50. The subscription filters for fans willing to spend.
Rebill
A subscription renewing automatically. Rebill rate, the share of fans who renew, is the health number for a paid page.
Churn
Fans leaving each month. 15% to 25% monthly churn is common on managed pages.
Bundle
Three or six months of subscription at a discount, or several sets sold together by message.
Free trial
A time-limited link that lets a fan into a paid page without paying. Used on traffic channels.
Pinned post
A post fixed to the top of the page. The first thing a new fan sees, and the first thing an audit looks at.
Welcome message
The automatic message a new subscriber receives. Usually carries the first paid offer.
Vault
A creator's library of content inside the management tool, tagged by type and price for chatters to send.
Geo-blocking
Hiding a page from fans in chosen countries or regions, used by creators who want privacy at home.
Faceless
A page where the creator's face is never shown. Common, and viable, with content planned around it.
DMCA / takedown
A legal notice to remove leaked content from a site. Agencies run takedowns as a background service.

Chatting

Chatter
A person who writes to fans as the creator and sells paid content, usually employed by an agency in shifts.
Script
A pre-written message with notes on when to use it. Chatters search a library of them and personalise the blanks.
Fan notes
A record for each fan: name, likes, purchases, payday. Built over months and hard to rebuild. Your contract should say they are yours.
Mass message / MM
A paid message sent to all fans or a segment at once, on a schedule. The engine of PPV income.
PPV ladder
A sequence of paid messages at rising prices, so a $5 buyer is offered $12 next, then $25.
Unlock rate
The share of fans who paid to open a paid message. 15% to 25% is the target.
Upsell
Offering a more expensive item to a fan who just bought, in conversation.
Whale
A fan who spends hundreds or thousands at a time. Whales get senior chatters and slower, more personal conversations.
Sexting
Paid one-to-one messaging sessions sold by the minute, the message or the set.
Custom
Content made to a single fan's request and priced per request, usually $50 and up.
Response time
How long a fan waits for a reply. Under five minutes is the agency standard.
Handover
Passing open conversations and context to the next chatter at the end of a shift.
CRM
The management software, such as Infloww or Supercreator, that gives a team access to a page without the password and holds scripts, notes and stats.

Traffic

Funnel
The path from a safe-for-work post on a mainstream app, to a link page, to the OnlyFans page.
Link page / link in bio
A single page, such as Beacons or AllMyLinks, holding every link a creator wants fans to follow. Most link tools have rules on adult content.
Tracking link
A unique OnlyFans link per channel so spending can be traced back to where a fan came from.
SFS / S4S
Shout for shout: two free pages promoting each other. Fans from swaps tend to spend little.
GG / paid shoutout
One creator paying another to promote her page.
Deep link
A link that opens the OnlyFans app directly from a social post. Flagged quickly on Instagram in 2026.
Verification
Proving to a subreddit that you are the person in your posts, usually with a photo holding a dated note.
Shadowban
A platform quietly cutting a post's reach without telling the creator.
Paid traffic
Buying subscribers or ad placements, from about $0.50 a fan. Cold fans who need chat cover to convert.

Agencies and contracts

OFM
OnlyFans management: running creators' pages for a share. Also the name of the course-selling scene around it.
Agency
A company that runs some or all of a page for a share of earnings. Anyone can call themselves one.
Management agreement
The contract. Read the term, notice, exit cost, post-term commission, base, access and payout clauses first.
Notice period
How long you must wait after telling the agency you are leaving. 14 to 30 days is fair; 90 is not.
Exclusivity
A clause stopping you working with other platforms, managers or anyone the agency introduced you to.
Non-compete
A clause stopping you working in the industry, or with named people, after you leave. Often unenforceable, always a red flag.
Statement
The monthly report of what was earned, deducted and charged. Should be built from your own OnlyFans data.
Onboarding
The agency's setup process when you join. Should not carry a fee on a managed page.
Launch package
A fixed-price setup for a new page, separate from management. Sable's is £299.
Companies House
The UK register of limited companies. Two minutes to check whether an agency exists.
Payout details
The bank account OnlyFans pays. It should be yours, and it should never change.

Anything missing, ask on your call. Applying takes two minutes.

Questions people ask

What does OFM mean?

OnlyFans management: the business of running creators' pages for a share of earnings. An OFM agency is an OnlyFans management agency. The term is also used by the course-selling scene that teaches people to start one.

What is PPV on OnlyFans?

Pay-per-view: a photo, video or set sent as a locked message or post that the fan pays to open. Priced from $3. Most income on a well-run page is PPV and tips rather than subscriptions.

What is a chatter on OnlyFans?

A person employed by an agency, or by the creator, to answer fans' messages in the creator's voice and sell paid content. Chatters work in shifts from scripts and notes on each fan.

What is the difference between net and gross on OnlyFans?

Gross is what fans spent. Net is what OnlyFans pays the creator after its 20% fee. An agency fee taken from gross costs a quarter more than the same percentage taken from net.
